What was the Cold War?

The Cold War was a conflict between the USA and the USSR where neither side actually declared war on one another. There was more a stand off between the two nations. It was soon confirmed that a nuclear war between the two would be unwinnable. The Cold War involved the arms race which was the build up of nuclear weapons armies and navies. Both sides were eager to build relationships with countries in Europe as this was the middle ground. Propaganda was an essential aspect of the Cold War.
