Satellite States

Satellite States were countries that were officially independent, but in reality controlled by another. The USSR extended its influence over Eastern Europe turning Czechoslovakia, Poland, and Hungary into Satellite States.

Stalin set up these states as he believed that the USA were trying to get a large influence over Europe. He believed that any country that accepted Marshall Aid was in effect and ally of America. To prevent the spread of this, Stalin attempted to extend his control over Eastern Europe therefore creating a series of Satellite States.
